UH Anthropology Dept. Keys The labs manager is responsible for checking out (and in) all archaeology office and lab keys for Dean Hall doors. Keys will be issued to students who must work in the archaeology labs in the evenings or on weekends, upon the written request of the student's Faculty Advisor and the Dept. Chair. A form is available for this purpose. By University policy, a $25 key replacement charge is made for each lost or stolen key; therefore, a refundable $15 deposit is required for each key issued. If keys are lost or stolen, the key deposit will be forfeit, and the student will be required to pay the additional $10 per key to cover the replacement cost. If you’re leaving the department, or if you have keys you’re not using, return them to the labs manager and get your deposit refunded. Do not loan your keys to someone else, or leave them where others might have access to them. Having keys for various rooms does not give authority to let other people into those rooms without permission. If you open a door for someone, you bear responsibility for whatever happens as a result. Helping to maintain security in the building is a responsibility that should be taken seriously. A gentle reminder--Courtesy requires that you ask permission before borrowing things from someone else’s office, even if that person did allow you to have an office key. In a justifiable emergency, the department secretary has a set of keys to our doors. |
