Dean 202 - Research Lab

Dean 202 is to be maintained as a clean, environmentally-controlled lab used for research and related teaching.  It is presently being used for the Cambodia project osteological analysis, data entry, and cartographic work.

The room has a sink (with cold running water), and a refrigerator where we keep chemicals, soil and waterlogged wood samples, dead animals waiting to be processed for our bone reference collections, film, and other related archaeological materials. It is against the law to keep food in the same refrigerator.  Do not do so.

A smaller lab, adjacent to 202 and assigned to the department's medical anthropologist, contains a fume hood which the archaeologists may use when needed.

Please note the following:

  • Dispose of all food containers and food remains in the covered rubbish can in the hallway.
  • The sink and plumbing were not designed for kitchen use, so avoid dumping grease and food remains therein.
  • Do not leave dishes; silverware; or food containers in the sink. If you do, they will be thrown away.
  • Do not leave dishes, etc. in the lab. There’s a shortage of space for lab things, and cluttering the place with kitchenware only makes it worse.
